Frequently asked questions about our acoustic panels
I only want to cover part of my wall. Are there any other formats?
Which type of glue do I need and in what quantity?
In principle, any standard polymer-based glue is suitable for the adhesive installation. These are available in cartridges of approx. 350-420 g in any DIY store. Please follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use and in particular for the setting time.
Which cleaning product is best suited to the panels?
The easiest way to clean your SELITSTYLE® acoustic panels is with a dust cloth or duster. You can also clean the surface with a vacuum cleaner and a soft dusting nozzle. Use a damp cloth and a little mild detergent to remove stains or other types of dirt.
How can I clean the fleece between the strips to remove dust?
If dust or dirt has settled in the spaces between the strips, you can easily remove it with the help of a vacuum cleaner with a flat/crevice nozzle.
Do the panels fade when exposed to sunlight, and are they UV-resistant?
The strips and fleece of your acoustic panels are made of PET material. The PET fleece and strips are UV-stable and retain their colour permanently.
Can I also install the panels directly onto old wallpaper (or concrete, unplastered brickwork, plasterboard)?
Why are the strips made of synthetic material too? Wouldn't wooden strips be better?
Wood and PET are equally effective at absorbing sound. Compared to acoustic panels made of wood or wood-based materials such as MDF, SELITSTYLE® acoustic panels made of PET are virtually indistinguishable in colour and texture. However, they are three times lighter, UV-resistant, dimensionally stable and, thanks to their non-porous surface, easier to clean.
We live in a rented apartment. How can I remove the acoustic panels afterwards?
If the acoustic panels are screwed on – with or without a substructure – you can simply unscrew the screws and remove the panels from the wall. Then fill the screw or drill holes.
If the acoustic panels are glued directly to the wall, you can carefully remove them with a spatula or chisel by gently levering them up from the side. Depending on how much glue was used, the panels may unfortunately be damaged in the process. In most cases, however, they can be removed easily. You can also carefully remove any glue residue on the wall with a spatula. In doing so, the wall surface, i.e. the plaster, may sustain small holes or dents.
Can I only buy the panels in retail or DIY stores, or can I also purchase them online?
You can also obtain mounting adhesive and any other mounting or installation materials you may need, such as LED strips, from DIY stores or specialist builders’ merchants. This means that you can obtain all materials on site exactly when you need them, regardless of delivery times. We are also planning to introduce an online ordering option.
How do acoustic panels affect the quality of the indoor air?
SELITSTYLE® acoustic panels have extremely low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and meet the highest emission class (A+).
